"Indian Summer" painting by Mike Mahon

Loved Too Hard

As I stare at the poodles of water from the rain.
I feel the salty tears that fall.
I wonder is this the long goodbye?
I loved you once awhile back,
But now I'm just hanging on to a dream.

I miss the feel of your kisses.
I long for your long embraces.
Now I feel but the coldness of your stare,
The time has come of what I fear was
Brought about by my bold dare.

Tonight I know this will be but another memory,
Another sad story,
A love gone bad that will be but part of my history.
I loved too hard and fell too deep
