A Daily Blessing

"I ask the Father in his great glory to give you the power to be strong inwardly through his Spirit." (Ephesians 3:16)

Here is a scene once repeated in thousands of christian housholds across America every day... It is early morning and time for a young child to head out to school. As they gather their books and head for the door, they pause by their father's chair. They search their father's face, and ask him to give them a blessing for the day.

The father places his hand on his loved child's arm, bows his head and prays; "God bless you this day, may He be with you in your daily study, protect you with angels from all dangers, and prepare your heart for this day of God's blessing."

Father and child part for the day, a blessing asked for, a blessing willingly given... We should do the same. Like the child longing to see acceptance and love on their father's face each of us needs a daily reminder of our heavenly Father's love.

Is this a daily scene in your home? Are our modern children so secure in our parental love they seek out our guidance and blessing for their daily activities? Do they have the assurance that we as parents are connected to our heavenly Father's daily guidance and love? Or has the bloom of our first love gone out because we have allowed the pressures of our hectic lives to block our christian lives?

Think about it; and remember, our heavenly Father is never any further away than the distance from our knees to the floor.
