On Erin's Stream

The Gentle Flow of Love

Love, like the stream of life itself, often bursts forth in a raging torrent; calming only as it comes down from the highland into a fertile plain. As it grows and matures, it widens, deepens, and slows into a gentle flowing stream. Like a gracious god it caresses our soul, gives us the reason for life, and carries us throughout all our days.

As the stream provides the water needed to make the flowers bloom; love’s gentle course causes our lives to bloom. We see its effects in the smile of our lover’s eyes; we feel it in our lover’s caress. We hear it, in the gurgling sounds of the baby’s play, the soft sounds of our lover’s sigh.

Many a cowboy has ridden the river road, swam its raging currents, camped beside its tumbling cataracts; but it is the truly blessed rider who like the psalmist, finds love and lies down beside its still waters.... Love flows where grace abounds. Both the streams of water and life, like love are a gift from our gracious God…
